Pounding the Pavement for Pink
Pounding the Pavement for Pink is an annual road race event held in Seymour, Connecticut, centered on a 5K through the town streets and supporting Seymour Pink. The event began as a collaboration between Seymour Pink and Seymour Tradition in 2012 and is in its fifteenth running. Organizers report that the event has contributed over $1.5M to Seymour Pink's mission; the first year raised $24,000.
The event offers both in-person and virtual participation. The virtual option takes place during a three-day period from the first Friday in October through Sunday evening, allowing participants to walk or run the 5K distance and submit proof of time. The in-person course is described as routed through town streets with pink lines, spectator areas, and decorations. Runners and walkers are welcome.
A children's fun run is offered for ages 8 and under. The kids event is a roughly half mile fun run in Seymour, and it is also available as a virtual option with a distance of about 1/2 to 1 mile.
Distances:
- 5K - 3.1 miles, in-person and virtual options
- Kids Fun Run - about 0.5 miles in-person, 0.5 to 1 mile virtual
Some registration fees listed by the organizers include $25 for the 5K and $15 for the kids run. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
