Pounding the Pavement for Pink 5k

Pounding the Pavement for Pink is an annual community 5k held the first Saturday each October to support individuals and families affected by breast cancer. The event offers live and virtual options and includes a children’s fun run.

Race options include:

  • 5k Live about 3.1 miles
  • 5k Virtual about 3.1 miles
  • Kids Fun Run Live about 0.5 miles
  • Kids Fun Run Virtual about 0.5 miles

The Kids Run is open to children under eight years old. Virtual participants may complete their race anytime during race weekend from Friday morning to Sunday evening.

The 5k is a USATF certified course that begins on River Road, continues down Derby Avenue near the Seymour Community Center, goes under Route 8, climbs a gradual incline past the Historical Society and Library, and finishes on a long flat stretch of Cedar Street and Derby Avenue. Total ascent is approximately 170 feet. On course water is available at about Mile 1 and Mile 2.

The course passes through decorated residential and town areas and typically features musicians and DJs. The event encourages formation of teams; past years have seen over 100 teams participate. Pets are not allowed on the course. The race began in 2012 as a partnership between Seymour Pink and Seymour Tradition and raised $24,000 in its first year to support both organizations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
