Rail Trail 10K Race
The Rail Trail 10K is a road race held on a fully paved rail trail in Hamden, Connecticut. The course is 100% on the Rail Trail with no cars and no street crossings; it is a flat out-and-back route that runs through fall scenery. The venue is the New Haven / Northampton Railroad Canal Line main parking lot at 4340 Farmington Heritage Canal Trail, Hamden, CT 06518. Plenty of parking is available in rail trail lots and on-street where legal; parking is not permitted at the Dunkin Donuts / Amity Liquors lot.
The event has been designated the Road Runners Club of America state championship 10K in 2023, 2024, and 2025 and the RRCA Eastern Region championship 10K in 2026. Timing uses transponder chips and records both gun time and net time; live results are streamed and finish times are texted and emailed to finishers.
Aid is provided with Poland Spring Water and Gatorade Endurance at miles 2.4 and 3.6 and at the finish. Entrant items include men's and women's short sleeve technical shirts and 3 inch custom finisher medals with a choice of medal color. Awards are given immediately at an awards table to overall top three men and women and top three in five year age divisions from 5-9 to 80+; awards are based on gun time. Portable toilets are provided. There are no time cutoffs and no early starts. Transfers via Active.com are allowed until 9/3/2026 for a fee. No refunds are offered.
