Rail Trail 10K Race
The Rail Trail 10K Race is a 10 kilometer race held on the Farmington Heritage Canal Trail in Hamden, Connecticut. The 2026 event is the Road Runners Club of America Eastern Region Championship and is the tenth running of the race.
The course is 100 percent on the paved rail trail with no cars and no street crossings. The route is an out and back on a flat trail through fall scenery. Aid stations provide Poland Spring water and Gatorade Endurance at approximately miles 2.4 and 3.6, with additional water and beverage service at the finish.
All entrants receive men's and women's cut short sleeve technical shirts and a 3 inch custom finisher medal, with a choice of medal color. Awards are given to the overall top three men and women and to the top three in 5 year age divisions from 5-9 through 80 plus; awards are based on gun time and are available immediately at an awards table rather than at a ceremony.
Timing uses transponder chips and records both gun and net time. Results are sent by text and email and are live streamed. There are no time cutoffs and no early starts. Porta-lets are provided at the venue. Free downloadable race photos and a finisher certificate are provided by EliteFeats.
Parking is available in Rail Trail lots and on-street where legal. Transfer and deferral options are available through Active until September 3, 2026 for a fee. The event policy is no refunds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
