Event Overview
The 2026 Rail Trail 10K Race is organized by Shoreline Sharks and takes place in Hamden, Connecticut. It marks the event's 10th anniversary and is designated as the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) Eastern Region 10K Championship. The single-distance event covers 10 km.
Course Details
The course is run entirely on a rail trail with no vehicle traffic or street crossings. It is a flat, out-and-back route. Aid stations with Poland Spring Water and Gatorade Endurance are located at miles 2.4 and 3.6. Timing uses a transponder system, providing both gun time and net time, with awards based on gun time. There are no time cutoffs or early starts.
Participant Information
Registration is priced at $60 during the main period (January 1, 2026, to October 1, 2026). In-person registration on race day is available for $65, accepting only cash, Venmo, or checks made out to "CASH". Participants receive a men's or women's cut short-sleeve technical T-shirt and a custom 3-inch finisher medal, with a choice of medal color. Post-race, finishers have access to Poland Spring Water and Gatorade Endurance.
Results are provided via live streaming, email, and text. Awards are given to the top three overall men and women, as well as the top three in all five-year age divisions from 5 years old to 80+. Free downloadable race photos and finisher certificates are offered by EliteFeats.
Venue and Logistics
The event starts and finishes at the Rail Trail Parking Lot on the Farmington Heritage Canal Trail in Hamden. Ample parking is available in all Rail Trail lots and on legal street parking, though parking is prohibited at the Dunkin Donuts / Amity Liquors lot. Portable toilets are available on-site.
