Rail Trail 10K Race
The Rail Trail 10K Race is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2026 in Hamden, CT. The 2026 edition serves as the Road Runners Club of America Eastern Region 10K Championship and is the event's tenth running.
- 10 km on a paved rail trail out-and-back course.
The course is 100% on the paved rail trail with no cars and no street crossings. The route is described as flat and runs through fall scenery. The venue is the Sherman Avenue main Rail Trail lot at 4340 Farmington Heritage Canal Trail, Hamden, CT 06518. There is plenty of parking in Rail Trail lots and on-street where legal; parking is not allowed at the Dunkin Donuts / Amity Liquors lot. Porta-lets will be available at the venue.
Aid stations provide Poland Spring water and Gatorade Endurance at approximately miles 2.4 and 3.6, and finish line refreshments include water and Gatorade. All entrants receive short sleeve tech shirts and a custom 3 inch finisher medal with a medal color choice. Free downloadable race photos and a finisher certificate are provided by EliteFeats.
Timing uses transponder chip timing with both gun and net times. Results are live streamed and sent by text and email immediately after finishing. Awards are given by gun time to overall top three men and women and to top three in five-year age divisions from 5-9 through 80+. Award winners may collect awards immediately at the awards table; there is no award ceremony.
Registration fees vary by date, with a higher in-person race-day fee. Transfers and deferrals are permitted until 9/3/2026 for a fee. There are no refunds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
