Rail Trail 10K Race
The Shoreline Sharks Rail Trail 10K Race takes place on October 3, 2026 at the Railroad Canal Line Main Parking Lot, 255 Sherman Ave., Hamden, CT. This is the event's tenth edition and it is designated as the Eastern Region 10K Championship for the Road Runners Club of America.
The race distance is 10K. The course is 100% on the Rail Trail with no cars and no street crossings. It is a flat out-and-back route that passes through fall scenery. Aid stations provide Poland Spring water and Gatorade Endurance at miles 2.5 and 3.5, and fluids are available at the finish for finishers. There is plenty of parking in Rail Trail lots plus on-street parking.
All entrants receive men's or women's short sleeve technical shirts and a 3-inch custom finisher medal. Results are available live by web, text, and email, and finish line photos are provided free. Awards are custom pint pilsner glasses presented to the top 5 men and top 5 women overall and to the top 5 in each age group: 5-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80 plus.
Registration fees are non-refundable and not transferable. There are no time cutoffs and no early starts. Bib pickup opens one hour before the event and requires knowledge of the assigned bib number or use of the self-lookup area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
