Event
The 2026 Rail Trail 10K Race takes place on October 3, 2026, at the Rail Trail Parking Lot, 4340 Farmington Heritage Canal Trail, Hamden, CT. The race distance is 10K. The event is organized by the Shoreline Sharks and is the Road Runners Club of America Eastern Region 10K Championship in its 10th anniversary year. Entry fees listed for 2026 include a regular price of $60 for most of the registration period, with earlier and on-site pricing noted by the organizer. Entries may be transferred to another athlete until 9/3/2026 for a $25 fee. Entries may be deferred to 2027 for a $25 fee if completed by 9/3/2026.
Course and logistics
The course is entirely on the Rail Trail with no cars and no street crossings, described as a flat out-and-back route. Aid and refreshments are provided at mile 2.4 and 3.6 and at the finish (water and Gatorade). All entrants receive men's and women's cut short sleeve tech T-shirts and a 3-inch custom finisher medal with a choice of medal color. Timing uses transponder chips with gun and net times; awards are based on gun time. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and in five-year age divisions from 5 years to 80+. Results are provided live and via text and email. There are no time cutoffs and no early starts. Parking is available in Rail Trail lots and on-street where legal; parking is not permitted at the Dunkin Donuts / Amity Liquors lot. Portable toilets are available at the venue.
