runLawrence Thanksgiving Day 5K
The event is a community road race in Lawrence that benefits Woodlawn School and local youth running programs and clubs. The main competition is a 5-kilometer timed race with chip timing; there is also a free children’s fun run of about one kilometer with medals for finishers.
Registration details include advance entry fees with a family discount for groups of three or more, and higher fees during the late registration period. Packet pickup and race-day packet pickup are available at a local running store and at Woodlawn School. Participants may leave warm-ups in a supervised bag drop area in the school gym. Restrooms are available inside the school and port-a-johns are placed near the start area.
Course and safety notes state that streets are not closed to traffic, so runners should be aware of vehicles and obey course marshals. The 5K does not allow dogs, headsets, roller skates, or wagons; strollers must start at the back. Souvenir Goodr sunglasses are provided to the first 1,400 entries.
Awards include age-division prizes and VanGo awards, with prize money for top overall and top age-graded masters based on gun time; winners must be registered and wearing the correct timing chip.
