runLawrence Thanksgiving Day 5K 2026
The event is a community road race that raises funds for Woodlawn School and local youth running programs, including marathon clubs. Distances offered include:
- 5K road race.
- 1 kilometer children's fun run with medals for all finishers.
Registration details include a tiered entry fee structure. Early entry fees apply before November 22 and a family discount is available for parties of three or more. A higher entry fee applies November 22 through November 26; fees include processing and sales tax. Registration is scheduled to open in summer 2026.
Packet pickup is available the day before at Ad Astra Running in Lawrence and on race day at Woodlawn School. Participants may leave warm clothing in a supervised bag drop area in the school gym. The start and finish are located in front of Woodlawn School on Elm Street. Restrooms are inside the school and port a johns are available near the start area.
Course safety rules prohibit dogs, headsets, roller skates, and wagons on the 5K. Strollers must start at the back and proceed by walking. Streets are not closed for the race so participants should be alert for traffic and follow course marshal instructions.
Chip timing is used and the chip is attached to the bib. Age group awards and overall awards are provided, and separate prize money is offered with eligibility rules. Awards not claimed on race day may be picked up at Ad Astra Running through December 31. Volunteers and sponsorship opportunities are available.
