Cactus Roulette Endurance Event

Cactus Roulette is a duration trail race hosted by the Lawrence Trail Hawks at Coneflower Campground in Clinton Lake State Park, Lawrence, Kansas. The event offers multiple timed options and uses a roulette wheel to determine which loop each runner will run next.

Time options:

• 24 hour
• 12 hour Owl
• 12 hour Lark
• 6 hour

There are three loop options that begin and end at base camp and are run counter-clockwise. Each loop is color coded to match the roulette wheel and has a dedicated starting mat. The loops are:

• SWIM BEACH (Blue): 3.6 miles, 253 ft elevation
• CACTUS RIDGE (Green): 2.6 miles, 239 ft elevation
• BUNKER HILL (Red): 1.9 miles, 150 ft elevation

Base camp provides food, water, porta potties, heaters, access to personal drop bags, and space for personal tents with priority for 24 hour participants. Live results are posted on monitors at base camp.

Awards and event provisions include a completion award for every starter, category awards by time option for male, female and nonbinary, a cash award for top 24 hour finishers subject to a mileage minimum, custom belt buckles mailed for 24 hour runners who reach 100 miles, time block SWAG with an early registration guarantee, and event photos supplied by Mile 90.

Event rules note that pacers are permitted only for the 24 hour option, dogs are not allowed, each time block is capped at 50 runners, littering can lead to disqualification, and an alternate course may be used if trails are unsafe.
