Cactus Roulette Endurance Event : January 24-25, 2026
Cactus Roulette is a duration trail race at Clinton Lake State Park in Lawrence, Kansas. The event offers four time options: 24 hour, 12 hour Owl, 12 hour Lark, and 6 hour. Base camp is at Coneflower Campground and will provide food, water, porta potties, heaters, and access to personal drop bags. Each time block is capped at 50 runners. Packet pick-up, awards, and live results on monitors are part of the event operations.
Course
- SWIM BEACH (Blue) - technical trail, 3.6 miles, 253 ft elevation
- CACTUS RIDGE (Green) - technical trail, 2.6 miles, 239 ft elevation
- BUNKER HILL (Red) - cross-country field, 1.9 miles, 150 ft elevation
All loops run counter-clockwise and are color-coded to match a roulette wheel. Before each loop, runners spin a roulette wheel to determine which loop they run next. There are three separate starting mats; runners cross their specific mat at the beginning of each loop.
Awards and rules
Every starter receives a completion award. Awards are given in male, female, and nonbinary categories for each time option. First place finishers earn free entry for the 2027 event; 24 hour first place includes a cash award if the runner completes at least 100 miles. 24 hour runners who reach 100 miles or more receive custom belt buckles mailed after the race. Unique SWAG is provided per time block; SWAG is guaranteed for registrations before January 9, 2026. Pacers are allowed for 24 hour runners; no pacers are allowed for 6 or 12 hour runners. Linked teams of up to five racers may spin and run as a team and must complete the race together. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
