The 5K course will meander through the neighborhood, uses all right turns once off school grounds, and will be marshaled by police and volunteers for safety. Participants should be aware of shared path users such as cyclists, dogs, and beach visitors.
Event options include:

- Virtual 5K - run locally on race day; finisher medal mailed.
- 1 mile fun run - untimed; for kids and families; kids receive shark socks, a custom medal, and a shark themed goody bag.
The event raises funds for a school program with Ocean Academy and includes a Sponsor a Kid effort to send students to a CIMI ocean science weekend on Catalina Island. There is an opportunity drawing supporting Shark Stewards, a fiscally sponsored project of Earth Island Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
