Run Wild 5K at OC Zoo
Run Wild 5K is a 5K run/walk held on November 7, 2026, at the OC Zoo in Irvine Regional Park. The event benefits the Orange County Parks Foundation and routes participants through the zoo, with free zoo entry provided to participants after the event.
The OC Zoo houses more than 100 animals, including a black bear, jaguar, mountain lions, a bald eagle, kit fox, ocelot, beaver, and a great horned owl. Many of the zoo animals are injured, orphaned, confiscated, or not releasable to the wild. The facility also features a barnyard area with domestic goats and sheep.
The event day includes on-site registration and packet pick-up, opening ceremonies, a 5K run/walk, a costume contest, and a festival. Participants can pick up bibs and shirts on race day. Only participants with a bib receive a shirt and a medal.
Parking in Irvine Regional Park normally carries a $5 per vehicle park fee; race participants should inform the gate attendant for free entrance. Dogs are not allowed on the course. Strollers are permitted but participants using strollers are asked to start toward the back of the field to avoid interfering with other participants.
