Run Turkey Run Thanksgiving Day 5K
The Run Turkey Run is an annual Thanksgiving road race based at Multisports Academy in Hamden, Connecticut. The event is described as a community tradition that welcomes runners and walkers of all ages and encourages festive attire, including turkey hats, tutus, and full turkey or pilgrim costumes.
The course is an out-and-back on the Farmington Canal Trail with no street crossings. There is a water stop located just before the turnaround. Parking is available at Multisports Academy. Packet pickup is offered at the race site the day before the event in the afternoon and the morning of the event, with same-day registration available at packet pickup.
Registration includes race entry, chip timing, race day parking, and an event t-shirt; the organizer notes shirt orders are placed 10 days before the race, so shirt availability depends on registration timing. A portion of event proceeds benefits Hamden Community Services, which supports local food and resource distribution, youth and community programs, and emergency financial assistance programs.
Awards are given to overall finishers and to age group finishers. Overall awards recognize the top three males, females, and non-binary finishers and are based on overall race time; age group awards use athletes' chip times and cover a range of age categories from 12 and under through 80 and older. Pets are not permitted at the event due to sanctioning regulations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
