Branford Thanksgiving 5K
The Branford Thanksgiving 5K is a community running event held on Thanksgiving at Walsh Intermediate School in Branford, Connecticut. The event offers multiple participation options:
- 5K
- Kids Fun Run
- 2 Mile Walk (new this year)
The 5K course is flat and begins and finishes at Walsh Intermediate School. The route travels through Branford’s Route 146 and Pine Orchard Golf Course. A pre- and post-race party includes kids activities, music, and grab-and-go food. Early packet pick-up is available at Marathon Sports Branford on November 24 and November 25.
Event proceeds benefit the Rotary Club of Branford and the Soundview Family YMCA. Funds support several local programs and services, including the Nelson Bernabucci Veteran's Luncheon, a senior holiday dinner, the Branford Food Pantry, Orchard House Adult Medical Day Center, and Branford Counseling and Community Services. Liberty Bank’s charitable foundation adds 25 cents for every dollar donated to participating Rotary clubs, with funds donated within the local communities where they are raised.
Parking at Walsh Intermediate School is limited to 300 spots; the event suggests parking in the Meadow Wood Road and Sunset Hill area and following yellow signs. Participation is limited to 2,000 entrants. Awards are given to first male and female finishers, top three non-binary finishers, and top three male and female finishers in each age group from 12 & under through 80+.
