Run to Break the Silence
Run to Break the Silence is a set of in-person trail races and a virtual option held at Sandia Resort & Casino in Albuquerque. The event benefits the Presbyterian Ear Institute and its School for Oral Deaf Education, which supports listening and spoken language for deaf and hard of hearing children.
Distances offered:
- 5K trail run / walk
- 10K trail run
- 1K Kids Fun Run (age groups for children)
- Virtual 5K option
The in-person trail courses start and finish in the far east parking lot at Sandia Resort & Casino and run on an all-terrain cross country course in the foothills of the Sandia Mountains. The 5K course includes one hydration station and the 10K course includes two hydration stations. The Kids Fun Run features an age-appropriate obstacle course and separate groupings for younger and older children.
No pets are allowed on course. Strollers are permitted at the community fair portion of the event but are not allowed on the 5K or 10K courses. The virtual 5K allows participants to complete a 5K on their own schedule and in a location of their choice; the virtual option has no set start time or course and may include mailed event shirts for some registrants.
