Run the Runway at Chicago Executive Airport
The event takes place on the runways and taxiways at Chicago Executive Airport in Wheeling, Illinois on June 27, 2026. It is a fundraising event with proceeds benefiting local aviation scholarships; no refunds will be issued and the event will not be rescheduled.
Distances and formats include:
- 5K Run, chip timed and USATF Certified.
- 1 Mile Walk, flat course with strollers welcome.
- Kids Dash, for ages 2 to 9 with two distances.
- Virtual 5K, run or walk from a remote location.
Course and participant details: the 5K is a flat, single-loop course with the same start and finish line and is chip timed. The 1 Mile Walk is flat and open to all ages; strollers and wagons are permitted. The Kids Dash offers a 100 yard dash for ages 5 and under and a 1/4 mile route open to ages 2 to 9; children aged 10 and up are directed to the 1 Mile Walk or the 5K.
Virtual participants run or walk on race morning and submit their time; event packets for virtual entries are mailed in mid-June and include a participation medal. Virtual participants are not eligible for top finisher pins.
Additional on-site elements include podium awards, music, food, giveaways, kids activities, and appearances by costumed characters. No pets are allowed.
