Run the Runway - Wheeling
Run the Runway takes place at Chicago Executive Airport in Wheeling, Illinois on June 26, 2027. The event uses the airport runways and taxiways and includes in-person and virtual options.
Event options include:
- 5K Run: USATF Certified, chip timed, flat single loop.
- 1 Mile Walk: Flat one mile course; strollers and wagons welcome.
- Kids Dash: Ages 2 to 9; 100 yard dash and 1/4 mile route.
- Virtual 5K: Complete on event day, submit time; packets mailed mid June.
Children aged 10 and up are directed to register for the 1 Mile Walk or the 5K Run. Virtual participants receive a participation medal in their mailed event packet but are not eligible for top finisher pins.
After the timed events there are podium awards, music, food, and kids activities. There will also be princess and character guest appearances during the morning.
Strollers and wagons are permitted on appropriate courses. Pets are not allowed. The event is a fundraiser with proceeds benefiting local aviation scholarships; no refunds will be issued and the event will not be rescheduled.
