Run The Runway 5K & Kids Fun Run - Meriden
This event takes place at Meriden Markham Airport and features running on the airport runway and a route that goes into the South Meriden neighborhood before returning to the runway. It is the fourth annual edition and benefits the Disabled American Veterans.
Distances
- 5K - Starts and finishes on the Meriden Markham Airport runway, route through South Meriden neighborhood.
- Kids Fun Run - Short children’s run held at the airport, free entry.
- Virtual 5K - Remote participation option with separate registration and fee.
Registrations are made online, with race day registration available until 15 minutes before the race. Entry fees for the 5K vary by date: $25 before July 31, $30 from August 1 through September 27, $35 from September 28 through October 18, and $40 thereafter. The Kids Fun Run is free. The Virtual 5K has a fee of $20. T shirts are guaranteed for 5K participants registered by October 11; thereafter shirts are subject to availability.
Awards include Top 3 Overall Male and Female and Top 3 Male and Female in age divisions. Age divisions are 15 and under, 16 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 plus. No dogs are allowed within the airfield property. The event is presented by Meriden Markham Airport, the City of Meriden, and The Meriden Running Club.
