Abner Oakes III Veterans Run
The Abner Oakes III Veterans Run is a sporting event held in Hamden, Connecticut. The event serves as a tribute to Abner Oakes III, a Navy Veteran and the founder of the Hamden Veterans Commission who was inducted into the Veterans Hall of Fame in 2010. Participants assemble at the Farmington Canal parking lot on Sherman Avenue to take part in the activities.

- 3.1 Miles (5K) running race
- 1 Mile Fun Walk
Financial proceeds from the event are directed to the House of Heroes Connecticut (HOHCT). This organization focuses on recognizing and serving military and public safety veterans, as well as their spouses, by providing no-cost home repairs. These service projects are typically completed in a single day through various partnerships with individuals and corporations.
