Purpose and beneficiary
Proceeds from the event will benefit House of Heroes Connecticut. The organization provides one-day, no-cost home repairs for Connecticut military and public safety veterans and their spouses through volunteers and partner groups. Since 2012 the Connecticut chapter has completed no-cost home repair projects for 276 veterans or surviving spouses in 73 cities and towns, with an expected total of 286 projects by the end of the year. The event is dedicated to honoring a local Navy veteran who founded the Hamden Veterans Commission and was inducted into a veterans hall of fame in 2010.
