Event Overview
Run the Grove is an annual community event held in the Timbergrove Manor neighborhood of Houston, Texas. The event features races that begin and end at the Lorraine Cherry Nature Preserve. Proceeds from the event support local initiatives, including the Grow the Grove program for tree planting, conservation efforts at the nature preserve, and donations to local elementary schools.
Race Categories
There are two primary distances available for participants:
- 5K Run: A course certified by the USATF that winds through wood-lined neighborhood streets.
- Family Fun Run: A course approximately 1 km in length open to participants of all ages.
Participant Information
The 5K race is chip timed, with awards presented to the top three finishers in various age divisions for men and women. These divisions include Under 20, 20-39, and 40+. All participants in the Family Fun Run receive a finisher medal.
Registered runners receive a packet that includes a race t-shirt. Aid stations providing water are located at the start, the finish, and along the course route. While strollers and wagons are permitted at the back of the starting line for safety, bicycles, rollerblades, and pets (excluding service animals) are not allowed on the course.
Location and Amenities
The event venue is located at 2400 West 11th Street. Dedicated parking is provided at nearby church locations, as road closures around the nature preserve are implemented for the race. A post-race celebration, referred to as Grovechella, follows the running events and includes a formal awards presentation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
