Event Overview
The Run On The Rocks event offers three long-distance races on Saturday, September 26, 2026, in Point Of Rocks, Maryland. Participants can choose from a 10 Miler, a Half Marathon (13.1 miles), or a 20 Miler.
Course Details
All races start and finish at the Point of Rocks Boat Ramp. The course is an out-and-back route on the C&O Canal Towpath, which follows the Potomac River. The path is described as wide, semi-paved/gravel, flat, and mostly covered by trees. Each distance has a specific turn-around point where runners must check in with a volunteer.
- 10 Miler: Turn around at the Mile 5 marker.
- Half Marathon: Turn around at the Mile 6.55 marker.
- 20 Miler: Turn around at the Mile 10 marker.
Race Information
The event is chip-timed. All participants receive a premium t-shirt with their registration, though availability and sizes for late registrants (after September 7th) are not guaranteed. A "no shirt" option is available. Finishers receive a medal. Awards are given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in two categories (Risers, ages 54 & below; Masters, ages 55 & above) for each gender in each event, based on age group.
Three aid stations are located along the course at Noland's Ferry, Monocacy Aqueduct, and Dickerson. Access varies by race distance. Headphone use is discouraged as the towpath is shared with the public and cyclists. There is no race day registration.

Packet pickup is from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM on race day at the Base Camp Shelter in Point of Rocks Community Commons Park. Pre-race instructions are at 7:45 AM at the starting line.
