The Run For Your Life 1 Mile Dash/5k/10k/15k Series - The Last Escape
The event takes place on October 17, 2026 at Fairborn Community Park, 691 E Dayton Yellow Springs Rd, Fairborn, OH. It is presented by Run Ohio Races LLC and uses a zombie outbreak theme that frames the course and activities.
Participants register as either Survivors or Zombies. Survivors wear a flag football belt and run through marked infected zones where Zombies may attempt to capture flags. Reaching the finish with all flags intact counts as an uninfected finish; losing one or more flags counts as being infected but the runner still completes the course. Zombies remain in designated infected zones. Costume creativity is encouraged for Zombie participants. The Zombie Experience includes a shirt with registration.
The course includes clearly marked infected zones and varying numbers of threat areas by distance. Distances offered in the series include:
- 1 Mile - out and back with 2 infected zones
- 5K - three out-and-back sections with 6 infected zones
- 10K - six out-and-back sections with 12 infected zones
- 15K - nine out-and-back sections with 18 infected zones
Registration fees vary by event, ranging from free for the Zombie Experience to a fee for each race distance. All runners receive a finisher medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
