Run for the River 5K and Polar Plunge

The event takes place at a privately owned farm in Bowman, Georgia, located at 1261 Seymour Road. The main running event is a 5K trail run that starts and finishes along the banks of the Broad River. The route passes through meadows, bottom land and upland hardwood forest, and longleaf pine, and it follows sections of the Broad River and Blue Stone Creek. At higher points the course provides views of the river and the surrounding forest valley.

Walkers are welcome and there will be a shorter walking loop for participants who prefer not to complete the full 5K. After the run there is an optional group Polar Plunge in the Broad River at a beach on the farm. Proceeds from the event support the Broad River Watershed Association water quality monitoring program.

Shirts are available to registered runners who register on or before January 6, 2025; after that date shirts are available while supplies last. Awards are planned for overall male and female, masters male and female, and for multiple ten year age groups including 10 and under through 80 and over. The event is presented as part of the Black Bag Race Series and finish line timing is managed by a race services provider. The course may be adjusted for weather and conditions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
