Run for the River 5K and Polar Plunge - Overview
The Run for the River 5K and Polar Plunge is set for Saturday, February 21, 2026, in Georgia. The main event is a 5K trail run that follows the Broad River and Blue Stone Creek through bottom land and upland forests. The route reaches a higher elevation with views of the Broad River and the surrounding river valley. Walkers are welcome and a shorter walking loop is available for those who do not complete the full 5K. An optional group Polar Plunge in the Broad River follows the run. Proceeds support the Broad River Watershed Association's water quality monitoring program.

Registration fees listed are $35 for the 5K (reduced fee $20 for ages 1-17) and $25 for the group plunge only. Registration closes on February 18, 2026. T-shirts are available to registrants who sign up on or before January 6, 2025; afterward shirts are available while supplies last. Custom awards will be given for Overall Male/Female, Masters Male/Female, and age groups in 10-year bands from 10 and under to 80 and over. The event is part of the Black Bag Race Series and finish line timing is provided by Classic Race Services. The course is subject to change based on weather.
