Run for Recovery - San Francisco
Run for Recovery is an inaugural road 5K along Crissy Field in San Francisco on September 13, 2026. The course is described as flat and fast and offers views of the San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. The start and finish are in front of Sports Basement Presidio.
The event aims to create a safe and inclusive space for runners and walkers of all ages and abilities, raise funds and awareness for The Release Foundation, and address stigma around mental health, substance abuse, and addiction. The Release Foundation provides scholarships and funds to help people overcome financial barriers to addiction recovery, mental health treatment, sober living support, and recovery coaching. Their funds support at-risk communities including LGBTQIA+ individuals, Black and Indigenous people of color, women, youth and young adults, and veterans.
The event is open to the public. Strollers and dogs are permitted but must start at the back and avoid impeding other participants. Bathroom facilities for men and women are available inside Sports Basement Presidio.
Registration categories and fees in the source include general, under-18, and family options; specific prices vary by registration date. All entry fees are non-refundable and transfers are subject to a $5 administrative fee. The event takes place within the Presidio Trust; paid parking is available at Tunnel Tops Park or Main Post, free parking at East Beach, and participants are encouraged to use rideshare, car pool, or Muni.
