Run for Recovery 12K at Chickakoo Lake Recreation Area
The event takes place on August 27, 2026 at Chickakoo Lake Recreation Area in Parkland County. It is an organized and timed trail race described as family friendly and open to runners and walkers of all abilities.
Distances offered
- 12K Trail Run, 50% technical single-track, 50% Nordic track, ~350 m elevation change.
- 6K Trail Run / Walk on 100% Nordic track with rolling hills.
- 3K Trail Run / Walk on flat double-wide trails, suitable for all ages.
- 1.2K Kids Fun Run, flat treed loop.
Standard fees are listed as $60 for the 12K and 6K, $40 for the 3K, and free for the 1.2K. The 12K, 6K and 3K include event branded swag and all finishers receive a medal.
Aid stations are located on course. The start/finish area will have hotdogs and chips for sale. Outhouses are onsite. Dogs are not permitted on the race course. Strollers and baby joggers are not allowed on the 12K course. The park will remain open to the general public.
Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each age category (U15, Open, 55+) for the 12K and 6K, and to children in the 3K. Race registration revenue net of expenses and event sales will be split equally between Our House Addiction Recovery Centre and McDougall House. A reduced registration fee option requires creating a fundraising page and raising at least $100 for one of the charity partners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
