Friends and Zoey's Zoo Fun Run
The Friends and Zoey's Zoo Fun Run is an annual event held in Edmonton, Alberta, now in its fifth year. The race takes place at the Edmonton Valley Zoo, with both the starting line and finish line located in the zoo’s amphitheater. This event serves as a fundraiser for the Valley Zoo Development Society, with proceeds supporting habitat improvements and the redevelopment of the carnivore section.
Participants can choose from several different distances:
- 1 km
- 2 km
- 5 km
- 10 km
- Toddler loop
A virtual participation option is also available for those unable to attend in person. The virtual race covers distances of 1 km, 2 km, 5 km, and 10 km and can be completed between August 1 and September 13. All virtual runners receive a custom finisher gift via mail.
Packet pick-up is scheduled for the day before the race at the South Edmonton Common Running Room and on the day of the event at the Edmonton Valley Zoo. Previous fundraising efforts have supported specific animal exhibits, including the Harbour Seal, Golden Lion Tamarin, and Goeldi's Monkey habitats.
