Dolly Parton's Imagination Library Run for Reading
The Run for Reading is a community event held in Royal Palm Beach to support literacy efforts in Palm Beach County. The event enters its fifth year and provides funding for the PBC Imagination Library, a program that mails books to children from birth to age five. This event features both local and virtual participation options.
The available distances include:
- 3.1 Miles (5k walk and run)
- Virtual 5k
The race takes place at Commons Park and utilizes chip timing provided by AccuChip, ensuring individual results are recorded from the start line to the finish line. Participants can choose to participate in person or join the virtual race from any location. Those joining the virtual event can pick up their materials locally or opt for shipping.
Registered participants receive a custom-designed race medal, a t-shirt, a swag bag, and access to post-race refreshments. Awards are presented to overall and age group winners following the completion of the physical event.
In addition to the run, the event hosts a book drive to collect gently used children's books. Participants can drop off donations at packet pickup locations or on the morning of the event. Free books are also made available for attendees to take home. Each registration includes a raffle ticket for prizes drawn on the day of the race.
