Run For It

Run For It is a community fundraising program developed by the Tucker Community Foundation in 2007. The 2026 campaign begins April 1 and culminates with a 2k walk and a 5k run/walk on September 26, 2026 in Davis, West Virginia, at 610 William Ave., during the annual Leaf Peeper's Festival. Events are offered both in-person and as virtual options.

The program supports team-based fundraising with three revenue streams: entry fees, team sponsorship, and race day awards. The registration fee is $12.00 and half of each entry fee is directed to the participant's chosen cause. The Foundation provides initial funding for the awards purse and sponsors supplement those awards, resulting in 100 percent cash awards for teams across multiple categories.

Participating teams represent nonprofit and charitable organizations across a ten-county region of West Virginia and Maryland. Supported causes include the arts, animal welfare, challenged athletes, charities, churches, civic organizations, community improvement projects, cultural organizations, education, emergency services, environmental and historic preservation, hospital and medical programs, libraries and literacy, parks and recreation, senior programs, Foundation operations, and youth organizations.
