PVFD Cheat River Triathlon

Event Overview
The PVFD Cheat River Triathlon is the fifth annual edition of this event. Proceeds from the event benefit the Parsons Volunteer Fire Department.
Events and Distances
Participants can choose from several events:
- PVFD Cheat River Triathlon - Solo: A triathlon for individual participants.
- PVFD Cheat River Triathlon - 2 Person Relay: A relay version for two people.
- PVFD Cheat River Triathlon - 3 Person Relay: A relay version for three people.
- PVFD 2K Walk: An untimed walk.
The triathlon events are open to participants aged 16 and older. Registration for the triathlon events closes on March 13, 2026, and re-opens the following day.
Course Details
All events start and finish at Mill Race Park in Parsons, West Virginia. The triathlon course begins with a run of 3.9 miles from Mill Race Park to Hendricks Park. Participants then kayak or canoe for over 3 miles on the Cheat River back to Mill Race Park. The final leg is a 7-mile bike route from Mill Race Park to Hendricks Park and back.
The separate 2K Walk is held on the walking track within Mill Race Park.
Participant Information
Specific safety equipment is mandatory. On the river portion, participants must wear a PFD (life jacket), helmet, and carry a whistle. A bicycle helmet is required for the bike segment. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
