Canaan Valley Trail Run
The Canaan Valley Trail Run is an annual off-road event held in Canaan Valley State Park, West Virginia. Hosted by the Canaan Valley Running Company, the race takes place on the Promised Land Trail, which begins and finishes behind the Canaan Valley Resort. The park is located in Tucker County, within driving distance of major metropolitan areas such as Washington D.C., Pittsburgh, and Columbus.
Participants can choose from two distances based on loops of the trail system:
- 5.9 miles (one loop)
- 11.8 miles (two loops)
The course is designed to be fast and is set within a region known for its proximity to Dolly Sods, Canaan Mountain, and Blackwater Falls State Park. The neighboring towns of Davis and Thomas provide local amenities including restaurants, breweries, and art galleries near the race site.
All runners receive a finisher medal and a t-shirt. Post-race amenities provided at the event include snacks and a beverage for those of legal age. The event utilizes the natural backcountry scenery of West Virginia, offering a destination-style race experience at the Canaan Valley Resort.
