Run for Gold 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run
The Run for Gold 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run takes place on Sunday, March 15, 2026 in Watkinsville, Georgia, at 3500 Hog Mountain Road. The event includes community running and walking options that occur within Oconee Veterans Park.

The event is presented by the Oconee Parks Foundation and benefits the Oconee County Parks and Recreation Department. All proceeds are designated for ongoing park projects managed by the parks and recreation department.
The course is run entirely on the park fitness trail, with the start and finish located on the soccer field side of the complex near the concession stand. Strollers and leashed dogs are permitted on course.
Shirts are available for participants who register by March 1; shirt availability is not guaranteed after that date. Awards are given for overall male and female, masters and grandmasters, and in five year age groups from youth through 70 and over. The event is part of the Black Bag Race Series and timing and finishline management are provided by Classic Race Services. In case of storms the race may be delayed in 15 minute increments and no refunds are issued for inclement weather. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
