Lake Chapman Trail Races : 15K & 5K
The Lake Chapman Trail Races take place at Sandy Creek Park in Athens, Georgia. The event features trail running around the lake with lakeside views and creek crossings on natural surface trails. The course uses park trails in Northeast Georgia and includes both rugged and runnable sections.
Two distance options are offered:
- 5K Trail Race
- 15K Trail Race
The 5K begins with a short road section followed by technical singletrack. The 15K also starts with a short road section and then follows a full loop of the Lakeside Loop Trail. Course maps are provided by the organizer.
All finishers receive medals. Place awards will be given to top finishers and there are age group awards. If weather or trail conditions make the usual routes unsafe or unusable, the event may be postponed for up to two hours or cancelled. In that case, a modified course primarily on pavement within the park may be used.
The races are held at Sandy Creek Park, 400 Bob Holman Road, Athens, GA 30607. Park access and race day logistics are managed by the event team and the park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
