About the race

Run for Gary is a community running event held in memory of a much-loved runner. The event raises funds to be split between Macmillan Nurses and St Teresas Hospice and brings together runners, families and supporters for an evening of running and remembrance on 3 June 2027.

The programme begins with a series of licensed 5K races seeded by predicted finishing times so participants compete with others of similar pace. The 5K is a flat road and pavement course. Runners in the licensed 5K races must be aged 11 and over. The evening also includes a U12 one mile race to give young athletes a chance to race and be part of the event.

The event culminates in a mass run of approximately 2 miles, where runners from earlier races and their family members and supporters join together for a shared run in memory of the person being honoured.

Additional practical details published for the event include a maximum of 1000 entrants and an entries closing date of 2 June 2027. Entry fees published for the programme are: 5K £12.00, 1 Mile £8.50, Mass Run 2 Mile £10.00.
