This 25th annual Run For Freedom features a USATF-certified 5K and 10K at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg. Proceeds fund life-enhancing programs for local veterans, and participants can receive a race t-shirt. Medals are awarded to top finishers in each age group.

Event Details

The Run For Freedom is a 25th annual event offering two distance options: a 5K and a 10K. The event is sponsored by the West Central Missouri Veterans Assistance League (VAL) and takes place at the Missouri Veterans Home on 1300 Veterans Road in Warrensburg. It attracts participants from West Central Missouri and Eastern Kansas.

Course and Timing

Both running courses are USATF certified. A professional timing company records all times. Participants are allowed to walk the events.

Awards and Proceeds

Medals are presented to the top three finishers in each age category. These medals are typically given by the veterans who live at the home. All proceeds from the event support programs that improve the quality of life for veterans at the Missouri Veterans Home. Examples of funded activities include bingo games, weekly happy hours, live music, special meals, and outings.
