Run For Freedom 5K and 10K
The 25th annual Run for Freedom takes place in Warrensburg, Missouri. This event is organized by the West Central Missouri Veterans Assistance League (VAL) and starts at the Missouri Veterans Home located at 1300 Veterans Road. Participants from West Central Missouri and Eastern Kansas take part in the event to support programs for veterans residing at the home.
The event features two primary distances:
- 5 km running race
- 10 km running race
The courses are USATF certified, and a professional timing company provides official results for all participants. Both runners and walkers are permitted to join the races. This is a family-friendly event where veterans living at the home personally present medals to the top three finishers in each age category.
Financial proceeds from the registration fees are used to fund various veteran programs. These initiatives include weekly social hours, live music performances, specialized dining experiences featuring items such as steak and lobster, and organized outings across Missouri.
