Event overview
The Run for Education is scheduled for October 11, 2026 in the San Ramon Valley. The 2026 event moves its primary festival and several race starts and finishes to Iron Horse Middle School in San Ramon. The 10K will begin at Charlotte Wood Middle School in Danville and finish at Iron Horse Middle School. The event includes an Expo for Education with exhibitor booths and family activities.
Race categories and rules
The event offers multiple in-person and virtual options:
- 1.5 Mile (untimed)
- Mini Run (ages 2-6)
- Friendship Run (for athletes with special needs)
- 5K
- 10K
- Virtual
Bibs must be worn on course. Two-year-old Mini Run participants may be accompanied by one parent or guardian. Participants under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Bicycles and dogs are not allowed on the course. The 5K and 10K are timed and printable certificates are available after the race.
Registration, pricing, shirts, and fundraising
Student registrants 18 and under receive a $5 discount for 5K and 10K entries. Group registrations of four or more receive a 5% discount. Mini, Friendship, 1.5 Mile, and 5K registrations include a short-sleeve cotton shirt and a medal. 10K adults receive a long-sleeve tech shirt; virtual participants may purchase a shirt. Unclaimed shirts not picked up by October 30, 2026 will be donated. Each registration creates a fundraising page; 70% of funds raised go to the chosen school and 30% support district-wide SRVEF initiatives.
