Event overview
The San Ramon Valley Education Foundation presents the 43rd Run for Education on Sunday, October 11, 2026, with a new main location at Iron Horse Middle School in San Ramon. The 10K will start at Charlotte Wood Middle School in Danville and finish at Iron Horse Middle School. The event includes an Expo for Education and community activities such as a kids’ zone and exhibitor booths. The Run for Education raises funds for district priorities including STEAM grants, district-level programs, professional learning, and individual teacher grants across 35 San Ramon Valley Unified School District public schools in Alamo, Danville, and San Ramon.
Race formats, logistics and fundraising
Available event formats:
- Mini Run - for ages 2-6.
- Friendship Run - for athletes with special needs.
- 1.5 Mile (untimed) - shorter course, same start/finish as 5K.
- 5K
- 10K
- Virtual - support without attending in person.
Logistics and rules: bibs must be worn on course; bicycles and dogs are not allowed; participants under 14 must be accompanied by an adult; two-year-olds in the Mini Run may be accompanied by one parent or guardian. Shirts and medals are provided for most in-person events; 10K adults receive a long-sleeve tech shirt. Registrations generate fundraising pages; funds raised split 70% to the chosen school and 30% to SRVEF district initiatives. The 5K and 10K are timed and certificates are available after the race.
