Event Overview
The Run for Education is a community running and walking event organized by the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation (SRVEF). The 2026 edition will be the 43rd annual run, taking place on October 11. It is described as a community tradition in the San Ramon Valley spanning more than 40 years and is noted as the largest run supporting education in Northern California.
Course and Activities
Participants can walk or run on the 5K and 10K routes. The event includes musical entertainment from local school bands and ensembles, such as marching bands and jazz bands. After the run, there is a community festival area with activities including a kids’ zone, inflatable games, a face painter, a fire engine, a patrol car, and exhibitor booths.
Purpose and Impact
The event is a fundraiser. Proceeds help fund STEAM grants and innovative programs across the 35 public schools in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District (SRVUSD), which serve the communities of Alamo, Danville, and San Ramon. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
