Oakland Cubs Cozy Cub 5K and Kids Mile Fun Run
The event is organized by a youth running team based in Oakland. The team aims to support the local community and its young athletes, and the race helps fund the organization and scholarship programs offered to its athletes.
Distances offered include:
- 5K Trail Run
- 1 Mile Kids Fun Run
The course and staging area are at The Meadow in Joaquin Miller Park, near the intersection of Joaquin Miller Road and Robinson Drive, Oakland, CA 94602. The race starting line is only accessible on foot; when approaching the intersection a trail leads down to the race staging area and yellow vested race volunteers will direct participants.
Parking is limited. Lot parking is available at the Joaquin Miller Ranger Station Lot and along the north side of Joaquin Miller Road. Organizers note limited parking and suggest carpooling when possible. Public transportation service includes AC Transit Line 31 with a stop at Joaquin Miller and Robinson Drive. Rideshare services can also be used to reduce parking demand.
Packet pickup will be held on Friday 12/4 and Saturday 12/5 in Oakland, exact location to be announced. Prizes will be awarded to the top two male and top two female finishers in the 5K Trail Run, and all participants in both events will receive race giveaways.
