Run Fast… or Pretend Like You Are (100 Mile relay & Challenge)
This event has two connected options taking place around Auburn, California on June 20, 2026. One option is a 100-person relay in which each runner completes 1 mile on local trails. The relay reserves 100 official spots and requires relay participants to be able to run a mile under 10 minutes. The route is described as largely uphill, with about 80 percent uphill running and roughly 1300 feet of elevation gain.
Relay logistics include continuous handoffs from runner to runner, an assigned mile number for each participant, an estimated start time, a check-in window, and a specific handoff location that will be communicated to participants before race day. Organizers provide live tracking updates on the event website and deploy on-site coordinators and volunteers to guide exchanges. Participants are advised to arrive early for their assigned window.
The second option is a public challenge to complete 100 miles within a 20 day period. This challenge accepts any pace and any combination of running, walking, or hiking. Miles may be tracked with apps, watches, a notebook, or by an honor system. Finishers of the 20 day challenge receive a 100 mile finisher buckle. Registration for the event opens May 5, 2026; relay registration closes June 6, 2026 and challenge registration closes June 1, 2026. A registration fee of $35.00 is listed for each option.
