Run 4 Woods Creek, Lexington Virginia
Run 4 Woods Creek is a four mile event along the Woods Creek Trail in Lexington, Virginia, organized by the Friends of Woods Creek, a volunteer group within Rockbridge Conservation. The group works to protect and promote Woods Creek by removing invasive plants, monitoring stream water quality, and planting native trees.
The course follows the Woods Creek Trail and begins and ends at the creek bridge near Waddell Elementary. The turnaround is at the Historic Miller House Museum in Jordan's Point Park. Along the route participants pass the Waddell Elementary playground and the Lime Kiln playground, cross a bridge near the former Beam Me Up BBQ location, run through a short tunnel, and pass areas associated with Washington and Lee University and Virginia Military Institute, including views over practice fields and barracks. The route descends toward the Historic Miller House and then returns by ascending a hill before following Woods Creek back toward the start.
Distance: 4 miles
The event accommodates both runners and walkers and uses the established trail and parkland features in Lexington to define its route and landmarks. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
