RUCK Cancer
RUCK Cancer is a fundraising foot race held to benefit LIV's Promise, a nonprofit organization created to fight childhood cancer. The event raises proceeds to support families and children who are facing an early cancer diagnosis. A child in the organizer's family was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at nine months old, which is part of the event's origin story.
Participants can choose between short and longer distances and may compete with or without a rucksack. Distances offered include:
- 5K Ruck
- 5K Run
- 5 Mile Ruck
- 5 Mile Run
- Virtual RUCK or Run Your Way
The event takes place in Allison Park at 10301 Pearce Mill Rd, Allison Park, PA 15101. All participants receive a custom technical race shirt. Ruck sacks are available for purchase during registration for $50 with a purchase deadline of June 24. A virtual registration option includes shipping of the race shirt the week after the event, allows participants to upload results between August 24 and August 31, and specifies that virtual results are not eligible for awards.
Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in both the 5K and 5-mile distances, separately for ruck and non-ruck categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
