Fox Chapel and O'Hara Township 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run
The Fox Chapel and O'Hara Township 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run is a community athletic event held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Organized by the Fox Chapel Parks Conservancy in partnership with the Township of O'Hara, the event utilizes local parks and trail systems for its courses. The gathering begins with a pre-race program that includes the singing of the national anthem.
The event offers two distinct distances:
- 5k
- 1 Mile
The 5k course starts with a loop on the wide paths of O'Hara Township Community Park. It proceeds onto the Salamander Trail, passing through Fay Park and Salamander Park. Participants circle the redeveloped McCahill Park before returning through Salamander Park and finishing with a final lap around the pond at O'Hara Park.
The 1 Mile Fun Run is held entirely within the vicinity of the O'Hara Township Community Park and the Salamander Trail. The route follows the northern perimeter trail of the park before transitioning to a brief out-and-back section along Sycamore Run.
Following the completion of the runs, the event features community activities at the park. These include refreshments, music, and activities for children. Local vendor booths and sponsor tents are also present on-site. The event is open to community members of all ages, including those who wish to spectate and support the participants.
