Baker Trail UltraChallenge
The Baker Trail UltraChallenge is a 50 mile ultramarathon held on the Baker Trail in Pennsylvania. The 2026 event covers the northern section of the trail in a point to point format that begins at the trail's northern terminus and finishes at the Brookville Evangelical Methodist Church in Brookville. Both individual runners and relay teams of up to five members may register.
The course includes about 6,200 feet of climbing and travels through deep forest and single-track that overlaps with the North Country Trail and passes through Cook Forest. Parts of the Baker Trail follow dirt or paved country roads with narrow shoulders. The route is marked with yellow blazes on trees, poles and other objects, and navigation requires regular attention to the blazes; going off course is a common occurrence.
Brookville Evangelical Methodist Church serves as basecamp, hosting participant check-in, a pre-race dinner, camping with porta-johns on site, shuttle service to the start, drop-bag collection, parking, the finish area and a post-race picnic. Participant check-in is mandatory; packets may be retrieved by a friend or family member to assist relay teams.
The event maintains explicit equity and inclusion policies. For 2026, half of the available spots are reserved for women and half for men. Transgender, nonbinary and pregnancy or adoption deferral guidelines are in place. Free, guided training runs open to the public are scheduled for July 24, July 26 and August 1, 2026.
