Event Format
The Baker Trail UltraChallenge is a 50-mile footrace that must be completed within 14 hours. The event takes place on the Baker Trail.
Participants can enter as individuals or as relay teams of up to 5 members. It is part of a three-year series covering different sections of the trail.
Course Details
The course follows the Baker Trail, which is a marked hiking trail. The path is indicated by yellow blazes on various surfaces. The terrain includes dirt or paved country roads, not just woodland footpaths, and runners must be alert for traffic. The trail can alternate between road and woodland sections, and runners must watch for blazes to stay on course. Getting lost temporarily is common.
Registration and Series
Registration typically opens well in advance, as seen with registration for the 2026 event opening on October 1, 2025. Each year, a unique piece of a three-piece medal is awarded to individual finishers. Participants who complete all three sections of the series receive a commemorative holder for the medals.
The next scheduled event is for Saturday, August 29, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
