Baker Trail UltraChallenge
The Baker Trail UltraChallenge is a 50-mile ultramarathon held on the Baker Trail in western Pennsylvania. The 2026 edition covers the Northern section of the trail as a scenic, point-to-point course that begins at the northern terminus and finishes in Brookville. The event accepts individual entrants and relay teams of up to five members. Finishers who complete the course within the fourteen hour cutoff receive a piece of a three-piece commemorative medal series.
Course and venue
The Baker Trail is a 134-mile marked hiking trail. The route uses yellow blazes on trees, posts, guard rails, and other markers. The trail alternates between single-track through deep forest and stretches that follow dirt or paved country roads, some with narrow shoulders. The 2026 northern course includes about 6,200 feet of climbing and overlaps portions of the North Country Trail and Cook Forest. Basecamp activities take place at Brookville Evangelical Methodist Church in Brookville, PA, including participant check-in, drop-bag collection, camping facilities, shuttle service to the start, parking, and the finish area.
Race format, training and policies
Each year one section of the Baker Trail is run; completing all three sections at different events earns a commemorative medal holder for the three-piece set. Guided training runs are offered in July to cover the full 50-mile route. The event has stated equity and inclusion policies, including reserving 50% of entries for women and 50% for men, transgender and nonbinary guidelines, and pregnancy and adoption deferrals. Registration opened on October 1, 2025, and closes on August 28. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
