Event
The Baker Trail UltraChallenge is a 50-mile ultramarathon held on the Baker Trail. The event accepts individual entrants and relay teams of up to five members. Finishers who complete the course within a fourteen-hour cutoff receive one piece of a three-piece commemorative medal; runners who complete all three annual sections receive a holder for the set.
Course and logistics
The 2026 edition covers the northern section of the Baker Trail as a scenic, point-to-point, 50-mile course with about 6,200 feet of climbing. The Baker Trail is a marked hiking route with yellow blazes on trees, poles, guard rails, and other objects. The route includes single-track forest trails and stretches that follow dirt or paved country roads with narrow shoulders. Runners are advised to watch for blazes because the trail may leave a road abruptly and reenter the woods.
Basecamp, services and preparation
Brookville Evangelical Methodist Church (30 White Street, Brookville, PA 15825) serves as basecamp. Activities there include participant check-in, pre-race dinner, camping and porta-johns, shuttle service to the start, drop-bag collection, parking, the finish area, and a post-race picnic. Mandatory check-in is offered on a Friday evening and on race morning. Free guided training runs in July cover the entire 50-mile course. Equity and history
The event is part of a three-leg series on the Baker Trail. Equity guidelines reserve 50% of spots for women and 50% for men and include transgender and nonbinary inclusion and pregnancy/adoption deferral policies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
