Royal Gorge Whitewater Festival : July 17, 18, 2026
The 17th Annual Royal Gorge Whitewater Festival takes place in Centennial Park in Cañon City, Colorado. The festival features whitewater competitions alongside land-based recreation events, combining boating activities with live music, food and beverage options, and bike and run events. The park is described as refurbished and family-friendly.
Event entries cover a wide range of formats and experience levels; some events are labeled beginner-friendly while others require more experience. All event participants receive free entry to the festival on the day of their event.
Running and route highlights:
- Great Escape 5K Trail Run
- Great Escape 10K Trail Run
The Great Escape 5K leaves from Centennial Park and follows the Arkansas Riverwalk trail, crossing the river at the pedestrian bridge and turning at the trailhead or an optional hill for extra elevation before returning to the park. The Great Escape 10K departs Centennial Park, climbs Wagon Trail and Schepp Ridge for town and mountain views, follows Piñon Trail to Recycle, and descends on Mutton Bustin back to Centennial Park.
