Round the Island Race
Round the Island Race is a trail running event scheduled for 20 September 2026 on Mersea Island in Essex. The course is a fully signed, fully supported single loop that follows the coastal path and is organised as a half marathon.
The event supports the Mersea Island Lions through a portion of the entry fee. The Lions Club was chartered in 1978 with aims of community service, fundraising to help those in need, and fellowship. The club continues to carry out those aims within the Mersea Island community.
Regular aid stations are placed along the course and are stocked with a mix of sweet and savoury race provisions. The event operates a cupless policy; participants must provide their own cup. Collapsible speedcups are available for purchase onsite for £2.50 each. An optional bespoke event medal is offered for those who choose to buy one; the entry fee structure allows opting out of the medal to reduce cost.
Practical arrangements note that parking and toilets are available in the vicinity of the start and finish. A cut off time of four hours applies to the race. The start and finish location is given by the organiser as what3words blacken.subtitle.hopping. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
