Rothrock by UTMB
Rothrock by UTMB is a trail running event set in central Pennsylvania near State College and Happy Valley. The courses run through Rothrock State Forest and feature sandstone ridges, fern-covered valleys, rhododendron tunnels, cliffs, and streams. The event takes advantage of spring foliage and blooming mountain laurel and rhododendron typical of mid-May.
Two race distances are listed, each with substantial elevation gain:
- 50K: 53.3 km, 1550 m+ elevation
- 25K: 26.9 km, 1188 m+ elevation
The event weekend is scheduled for mid-May 2027. The race description highlights local community character and hospitality in Happy Valley, including historic charm, locally owned shops, and cultural experiences near the trail network.
UTMB Community Bibs are part of the event’s community support efforts. Those bibs are associated with a grant and volunteerism program administered through the IRONMAN Foundation; half of the registration costs for community bibs go to a local charity chosen by the race team.
