Rothrock by UTMB
Rothrock by UTMB is a trail running event held in central Pennsylvania within Rothrock State Forest and the Happy Valley area. The event is scheduled for mid May 2027 and features natural, varied terrain including sandstone ridges, fern-covered valleys, rhododendron tunnels, cliffs, and streams.
The event offers multiple race options with measured distances and significant elevation gain:
- 50K - 53.3 km, 1,550 m+ elevation gain
- 25K - 26.9 km, 1,188 m+ elevation gain
The course descriptions emphasize routes carved through sandstone ridges and shaded forest sections, with terrain that highlights local plant life such as mountain laurel and rhododendron. The surrounding Happy Valley community is described as having historic character, locally owned shops and eateries, and a hospitality focus that complements the natural setting.
UTMB Community Bibs are part of the event. They are connected to the IRONMAN Foundation and direct part of registration funding to local charities and trail stewardship programs. The event notes that since 2003 over $60 million has been provided through IRONMAN and the IRONMAN Foundation to support nonprofit initiatives and community projects.
