Rothrock by UTMB
Rothrock by UTMB is a trail running event set in central Pennsylvania, taking place around Rothrock State Forest and Happy Valley near State College, PA. The event weekend is scheduled for 15 to 17 May 2026, with races on 16 and 17 May 2026.
The courses pass through sandstone ridges, fern-covered valleys, rhododendron tunnels, shaded forests, cliffs, and streams. The terrain includes sustained climbing and technical trail sections, and the races list notable elevation gains.
The event features two main race distances:
- 50K: 54.1 km, 1756 m elevation gain
- 25K: 26.9 km, 1188 m elevation gain
The timing in mid May coincides with spring foliage and blooming mountain laurel and rhododendron, creating a strong seasonal backdrop for the trails. The event description highlights local community and hospitality in Happy Valley, including historic charm and locally owned shops and eateries.
