Tussey mOUnTaiNBACK 50 Mile Relay and Ultra
The event is part of Tussey Mountainback Race Weekend on Oct 23-24, 2026, with the main race day on Oct 24 in Boalsburg, PA near 301 Bear Meadows Road. Courses run as a loop on mostly unpaved fire roads through Rothrock State Forest during peak foliage season.
Distances include a 50 mile ultramarathon, a 50 km race, a half marathon, team relays of various sizes, and a kids fun run. The 50 mile and 50 km share the same route for the first 19 miles. All distances begin and end with 0.6 miles of pavement; about the last 5 miles of the 50 mile course are on paved, downhill terrain. The total elevation gain for the 50 mile is 5,485 ft.
Aid stations are stocked and staffed and appear every 2.9 to 5.6 miles along the course. Individual runners may use support vehicles and drop bags. Relay teams must select and maintain a fixed runner rotation, use aid stations as transition points, and provide one team vehicle to transport runners to transitions.
Age and gender categories are offered for individuals and teams. Runners over 40 on race day are eligible for masters classification; otherwise they are in open categories. Packet pickup is available at the venue the day before; 50 mile and 50 km individual runners may also pick up on race morning. Registration closes Oct 9 at 11:59 PM ET.
