The Raven Trail Races
The Raven is a trail race held in the Seven Mountains area of Bald Eagle State Forest, Pennsylvania, with courses routed through Poe Valley. The event includes technical, remote singletrack and steep climbs, runnable doubletrack, rocky ascents, cool stream crossings, overlooks, and long stretches of quiet forest. The race draws on imagery from Edgar Allan Poe and the course surroundings are described as evocative of Poe Valley’s dark pines and rugged terrain. The event is presented as best suited for experienced trail runners and is hiker friendly for participants who train and respect the terrain.
Distances and course statistics:
- 10K - ~6.4 miles, +1.5K elevation gain
- Half Marathon - ~13.6 miles, +2.9K elevation gain
Aid stations are provided on each course and are described as well stocked with hydration, fuel, and support. The half marathon has aid stations at Dry Hollow (~mile 4.8), Penns View (~mile 6.8), and Mountain Church (~mile 10.5). The 10K uses Mountain Church (~mile 3). Tailwind Endurance Fuel will be available at all aid stations. The event includes Raven themed finisher awards, a kettle served ham and bean soup after party with a vegetarian option, and a post race gathering to swap stories or read a poem.
