Event overview
The Day of the Dead Half Marathon - Fort Worth takes place on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Marine Creek Lake, 2700 NW Loop 820, Fort Worth, TX 76179. The event is produced by Bigfoot Running Company and includes a pre-race costume contest with judges and a prize awarded before the race. A post-race rally tent will host live music and offer Mexican treats and drinks. Aid stations will provide water on course. Packet pickup is offered beginning 1.5 hours before the event start; a shirt guarantee cutoff is set at 10 days before the event. Course surfaces may include pavement, crushed granite, and occasional dirt paths. Races proceed in rain or shine.
Distances and awards
- Kids Dash - about a 20-yard dash for children 10 and under.
- 1 Mile - non-chip timed 1-mile event, includes shirt and medal.
- 5K (3.11 miles) - chip timed; overall trophies and age-group awards.
- Quarter Marathon (6.55 miles) - chip timed; overall trophies and age-group awards.
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles) - chip timed; overall trophies and age-group awards.
- Volunteer then Run - volunteer before racing; includes chip-timed bib, tee, and medal.
- Virtual Run - remote participation option.
Standard awards include 1st overall trophies, masters recognition, and age-group pins for categories from 10 and under through 70+. Full Race Volunteers receive a race shirt, souvenir medal (subject to availability), VIP access, and a choice of a future free race entry or a $20 digital gift card.
