Event Details
The Dessert Dash is a themed running event organized by Bigfoot Running Company. It takes place at Webb Community Park in Arlington, Texas. The event includes several race distances and is focused on a dessert party atmosphere.
Distances
The event offers multiple running distances:
- Kids Dash for participants 10 years old and under.
- 1 Mile run.
- 5K (3.1 miles) run, which is chip-timed.
- 10K (6.22 miles) run, which is chip-timed.
- A Volunteer then Run option for the 5K distance.
- A Virtual Run option.
Participant Experience
Every participant receives a dessert ticket at the finish line. Event highlights include colorful finisher medals, a race t-shirt, a dessert-themed photo backdrop with props, music at the finish line, and name announcements. Aid stations are available along the course.
Awards
Awards are given for the 5K and 10K races. These include Bigfoot Trophies for the first overall male and female finishers, a recognition pin for the first Masters (40+) finishers, and standard age-group awards. Age groups range from 10 & under to 70+.
Registration Information
Youth pricing is available for participants aged 12 and under for the 5K and 10K distances. Group discounts and a referral bonus program are offered. A shirt is guaranteed for registrations made at least 10 days before the event. Packet pickup opens 1.5 hours before the race start.
Course and Logistics
The course terrain is a mix of pavement, crushed granite, and some dirt paths. The event takes place in a public park. The event proceeds regardless of weather conditions.
Volunteer Opportunities
There are two main volunteer options. The "Volunteer then Run" option is limited to 10 participants for the 5K and includes race entry. "Full Race Volunteers" who do not run receive a race shirt and can choose between a free future race entry or a gift card.
