Heroes and Villains - Fort Worth
The Heroes and Villains event, organized by the Bigfoot Running Company, is a multi-distance running event held in Fort Worth. Participants can choose from a variety of race distances, including a half marathon, quarter marathon, 5K, 1 mile run, and a specialized dash for children. The courses are situated on scenic local park and greenbelt trails, featuring a mix of surfaces such as pavement, crushed granite, and dirt paths.
The event offers several race options:
- Half Marathon: A 13.1-mile chip-timed race.
- Quarter Marathon: A 6.55-mile chip-timed race.
- 5K: A 3.11-mile chip-timed race.
- 1 Mile Run: An untimed fun run for all ages.
- Kids Dash: A 20-yard (50-meter) untimed dash for participants aged 10 and under.
The event features a costume contest before the start of the races, where participants are encouraged to dress as superheroes or villains. Course support includes aid stations for hydration and a race rally tent at the finish area providing snacks and refreshments.
Awards are provided for various categories. All finishers across all distances receive a medal and a shirt. In the chip-timed events, trophies are awarded to the first overall male and female finishers, and recognition pins are provided for masters winners and the top three finishers in standard age groups. The event takes place in public spaces, meaning runners may share the trails with other park users. Races are held regardless of weather conditions, including rain, heat, or cold.
