TCU Theta CASA 5K
The TCU Theta CASA 5K is an annual fundraising run held at the TCU Commons in Fort Worth, with the course beginning at Frog Fountain. The event is organized by the Gamma Psi chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta and raises funds for CASA of Tarrant County and the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation. All proceeds are donated to these organizations.
The race originated from an idea for a 5K that led to the first Breakaway event in 1997; the event was renamed in honor of a former member in 1999. Kappa Alpha Theta adopted National CASA as its official philanthropy in 1989. CASA volunteers serve as court-appointed advocates for abused and neglected children, providing information to judges and helping expedite legal processes. The Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation supports educational, leadership, and philanthropic activities for chapter members and enables chapters to fundraise for additional local causes through its Theta for Good program.
Participants will find stations along the route staffed by TCU Theta members to cheer on runners. The event offers two 5K options:
- 5K Timed : 3.107 Miles
- 5K Untimed : 3.1 Miles; no timing chip but includes the same t-shirt as the timed option
The event location is listed as TCU Commons, Frog Fountain, 2800 S. University Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76109. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
