The Wiener Run 5K & 10K - Dallas
The Wiener Run is a springtime community event held at Bachman Lake Park in Dallas. This running event incorporates a picnic theme and supports a local wiener dog rescue organization. The course features a variety of surfaces, including pavement, crushed granite, and grass paths. Participants can expect aid stations located throughout the routes.
The event offers several distances and categories:
- 10K Run: A chip-timed 6.22 mile race with age group and overall awards.
- 5K Run: A chip-timed 3.11 mile race with age group and overall awards.
- 1 Mile Run: A non-timed run suitable for various experience levels.
- Kids Dash: A 20-yard dash for children aged 10 and under.
- Virtual Run: A 13.1 mile remote participation option.
Participants in the in-person races receive a finisher medal and a t-shirt. The post-race area includes a live DJ, the presentation of awards, and refreshments consisting of a hot dog and a beverage for every runner. The top male and female finishers in the 5K and 10K events receive a trophy, and a special recognition pin is awarded to the first-place finishers in the Masters (40+) category.
On-site activities include dog rescue donations and the presence of adoptable dogs. The event organizers also collect dog food, toys, and treats for donation.
