Rockin' Rockwoods 53K and 1/2 Marathon
Rockin' Rockwoods is a trail race held in Greensfelder County Park, Wildwood, MO, organized by Terrain Trail Runners. The event includes the following distances:
- 53K
- 1/2 Marathon
- 13.1 RUCK
The races run primarily on the Green Rock Trail with about 95% single track. Terrain ranges from hard pack dirt to loose rock, with roots, creek crossings and technical, hilly sections. The 53K uses two out-and-back sections with an approximate elevation gain of 5,200 ft. The 1/2 Marathon and 1/2 Marathon RUCK are out-and-back with an approximate elevation gain of 2,200 ft. There is a 10-hour overall time limit and additional enforced cutoffs at aid stations.
Aid support includes four manned stations stocked with water, electrolyte drinks, gels, snacks and basic first aid. Approximate spacing between aid stations is 5.5 miles, with no segment greater than about 7.5 miles. Restrooms are available at the start/finish and at the turnaround aid station.
The event is part of the Trail Mix Fund initiative to help remove financial barriers to entry. Race day registration is available with separate fees for each distance and swag availability is limited. Race entries include a custom cotton/poly hoodie, a handmade finisher medal or rucking patch, and post-race food and beer. All medals, swag and awards must be picked up at the finish; items are not mailed. The event is cup-free and follows a zero waste approach, so participants are asked to bring their own drinking receptacle and mess kit.
