Event Background

The event is inspired by Captain Andrew Allman, a U.S. Army veteran. In December 2021, he was diagnosed with stage four gastric adenocarcinoma, a cancer linked to his exposure to burn pits during deployment in Iraq eleven years prior. He fought the disease for seven months. During his treatment, he regained strength from being bedridden to walking, at one point covering three miles in a single day. His drive to overcome these obstacles serves as the inspiration for this 5k walk/run. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
