Rio Del Lago 100 Mile and 50K Endurance Runs

Rio Del Lago hosts two trail endurance races from Beal's Point in the Sierra Nevada foothills near Granite Bay and Folsom Lake. The event in 2026 marks the 25th running of the 100 mile distance and the 5th running of the 50K. It is a qualifier for the 2027 Western States 100.

Distances

  • 100 mile endurance run
  • 50K endurance run

The 100 mile course has approximately +13,874 ft and -13,874 ft of elevation change. The route uses singletrack, paved bike paths and fire roads and passes features such as Folsom Lake, Lake Natoma, the Johnny Cash Trail, Nimbus Bluffs, the Auburn Overlook and No Hands Bridge. The course description notes climbs like Cardiac Hill and Last Gasp and multiple sections where runners retrace outbound miles on the return.

Aid stations are fully stocked with water, sports drink, caffeinated products, soda, boiled potatoes, PB&J, energy bars and hot food at selected night stations. The race is cupless so runners must bring their own cup and must carry two water bottles or a hydration pack. Drop bags are issued in specified sizes and placed at designated aid stations. Pacers are allowed only at certain locations and must be on foot and at least 18 years old. Several aid locations are marked no crew access and crewing there will lead to disqualification. Timing uses a B tag system and awards include finisher items for sub 30 hour finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
