Rio Del Lago 2026 : Event overview

Rio Del Lago is a pair of endurance races held at Beal's Point, Granite Bay, California. The event includes a 100 mile endurance run and a 50K endurance run on Saturday, November 7, 2026. The 100 mile race is a Western States 100 qualifier for 2027. Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Timing uses a B-tag chip system. Overall awards are given to the top three male and female finishers by gun time; age-group awards use chip time. Finishers under 30 hours receive a finisher’s jacket and belt buckle; both distances receive a finisher medallion.

Course, aid stations and race logistics

The 100 mile course has approximately +13,874 ft/-13,874 ft of elevation change and follows trails and bike paths around Folsom Lake, Lake Natoma and the American River Parkway. Notable course features include the Johnny Cash Trail, Nimbus Bluffs, Pioneer Express Trail, Granite Beach, Twin Rocks, Cardiac Hill, the Auburn Dam Overlook and No Hands Bridge. The 50K follows the same early miles to Twin Rocks and returns to Beal’s Point.

The event is cupless; reusable cups are not provided and runners must carry two water bottles or a hydration pack. Aid stations are stocked with water, Skratch Hydration, GU gels, sodas, boiled potatoes, PB&J, JAMBARS and other foods. Night aid stations offer hot veggie broth and quesadillas. Hot food is available at Horseshoe Bar, Rattlesnake Bar, Overlook, No Hands Bridge, Auburn Lake Trails, Cool and Granite Beach (on return).

Drop bag locations are at Beal’s Point, Rattlesnake Bar (miles 36.04 and 86.01), Overlook (miles 45.22 and 76.83) and Auburn Lake Trails (mile 59.64). Pacers (on foot, generally 18+) may join runners only at specified aid stations. Medical stations are located at the start/finish, Overlook, Auburn Lake Trails and Rattlesnake Bar on the return.
