NorCal Backyard Ultra : Granite Bay, CA
The NorCal Backyard Ultra takes place October 23-25, 2026 at Beals Point on Folsom Lake in Granite Bay, California. The event uses a single loop course with an elevation gain of 320 ft per lap. Distances for the event formats are:
- Last Person Standing - 4.16 miles
- Mini Last Person Standing - 4.16 miles
Race format and logistics
Both formats require runners to start a new loop at the top of each hour and to finish the previous loop within that hour. Missing the start at the top of the hour results in disqualification from further laps. The Last Person Standing format continues until only one runner remains. The Mini Last Person Standing is limited to 12 hours. There are no aid stations along the course and on-course aid from crew is not allowed.
Aid, awards, and community program
Participants are encouraged to bring their own aid setups (tent, table, chairs, food) to use between laps. There is one aid area at the start/finish under a tent offering water, hydration mix, light snacks, and warm food. All runners receive a NorCal Backyard Ultra quarter zip and a custom wood award based on miles completed; the top finisher receives a custom wood plaque. A community donation program matches participant donations up to $40 or 25% of the registration fee and links donations to future race discounts.
