Event overview
The Valparaiso Family YMCA presents the 33rd Ringing in Spring 5K on April 4, 2026, at the Valparaiso Family YMCA, 1201 Cumberland Crossing, Valparaiso, IN 46383. The event donates 100% of registration proceeds to the Valparaiso Family YMCA Annual Campaign to provide financial scholarship assistance for programs, membership, and childcare services. The race is the fourth event in the Race the Region series.
Race details
The event distance is 5K. The course begins just outside the YMCA (by UPS in front of the Valpo YMCA), meanders through the north end of Valparaiso, and returns to the starting area. Volunteers will be posted along the route. Packet pick-up is available at Extra Mile Fitness, 3400 Calumet Ave., Valparaiso, and on race day in the YMCA gym. Participants receive an official 2026 Ringing in Spring shirt and a disposable on-bib timing chip. The deadline for guaranteed shirt size availability is March 16, 2026.
Strollers are allowed and start at the back of the race corral; timing is measured by chip when a participant crosses the start line. Dogs are not allowed on the course.
Awards
Overall male and female finishers receive plaques with the signature bell. Overall Masters male and female are also recognized. The top three in each age group receive an official Ringing in Spring medal. Age groups include 10 and under, 11-12, 13-14, 15-19, then five-year increments from 20-24 through 75-79, and 80+.
