Ridge to Blazing Ridge Trail Race
Ridge to Blazing Ridge is a trail race at Oak Mountain State Park, starting and finishing at the Redbud Pavilion. The event offers two distance options that use the park’s ridge lines, climbs, and technical singletrack.
- 10 Mile : about 10.76 miles, ~1,700 ft elevation gain
- 21 Mile : about 21.1 miles, ~3,400 ft elevation gain
The course crosses the park, climbs to Peavine Falls, follows the ridge of Double Oak Mountain, and crests Shackleford Point. Terrain includes runnable singletrack mixed with rocky descents, roots, and short steep climbs. Aid is available on course: one fully stocked aid station near Red Road at roughly 4.8 miles, a water-only station near the Red/White/Blue junction at about 7.8 miles, and a start/finish aid area mainly for second-loop runners. Typical aid station items include water, Tailwind, soda, fruit, and grab-and-go snacks.
Race operations use visible blue flags with reflective tape and arrow signs for navigation; flags are generally spaced up to about 150 yards. Organizers provide GPX files for navigation and recommend runners review course maps. The event is cupless; runners must bring their own cup, bottle, or hydration vessel and start each lap with approximately 16 ounces of water or similar. Capacity is limited to 300 runners and Oak Mountain charges a $5 park entry fee per person. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
