Ridge to Blazing Ridge Trail Race
The Ridge to Blazing Ridge Trail Race takes place near Pelham, Alabama, on Tranquility Road and uses trails within Oak Mountain State Park. It is Race 5 of the Southeastern Trail Series and starts at the Redbud Pavilion next to the BMX track.
Two distances are offered:
- 20 Miler
- 10 Miler
The course is described as difficult and likely to be hot, and organizers note it is a bit harder than the two previous races in the series. A course map and a GPX file are available. There are two aid stations on the mountain at mile 3.75 and a water only stop at mile 7.5. Tailwind is available at the aid stations along with water.
Runners must be carrying at least 15 to 20 oz of water or Tailwind at the start; participants without this will not be allowed to run. Packet pickup and late registration are offered the day before and the morning of the race, and Oak Mountain State Park charges a $5 per person park entry fee. Runners registered by July 26 will receive custom race shirts; organizers order shirts six weeks prior and will distribute them based on registration date if quantities differ.
